Florence (Newman) Post

Florence Post, age 81, of West Hartford, died peacefully on Monday November 13, 2017 with her children by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Philip Post for 59 years.

Florence spoke about her childhood experiences to school groups. She wanted to educate people about the consequences of intolerance and discrimination. She felt that we would have a better world based on mutual respect and love, and not HATE.

The focus of Florence’s life was her family. She loved playing bridge and was an avid gardener. She loved entertaining and preparing her home made specialties. Florence was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Besides her husband Philip, she is survived by her children Michael of Big Bear Lake, CA, her daughter Allison Ghamo and her husband Joe of West Hartford, her son Aron and his wife Jessica of Needham, MA, her brother William Newman and his wife Joan of West Hartford and her sister- in-law Emily Honigberg of Athens, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Max, Joey, Sam and Lana Ghamo, Shelby Post, Teddy and Olivia Post, many nieces and nephews, and the best group of friends that a girl could have.
