Allen L. Kruh
Allen L. Kruh, 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, passed away at his home in Boynton Beach, Florida on Saturday, January 27, 2018. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Myrna (Rosenthal) Kruh. Allen was the son of the late Harry and Becky (Cohen) Kruh.

A long-time resident of West Hartford, Allen was born in Hartford, attended Weaver High School, and was a United States Army veteran. While still a teenager, Allen took over a fledgling grocery delivery business from his ailing father, and over the next fifty-plus years of his life, with the help of his sister and business partner Maye (Kruh) Greenblatt, he built Better Brands, Inc. into one of the premier independent foodservice distribution companies in New England and the nation. He attributed the success of the business to the efforts of a dedicated staff of hard-working foodservice associates who appreciated the close-knit, family culture that made Better Brands unique. He was renowned for his kindness and generosity. He possessed a keen wit, displayed good judgment, and offered sound advice. Allen cared deeply about his family and the people with whom he worked. He treated everyone with characteristic honesty, compassion, dignity, and good humor, and in return he was admired and respected by all.

In addition to his wife Myrna, Allen is survived by his daughter Pamela Kruh and her husband Frank Needleman of Newton, MA; his beloved granddaughter Hallie Kruh-Needleman; his niece Judi Weinreb of Coconut Creek, FL; his niece Roberta Kaufman and husband Alan of West Hartford; his nephew Ken Weinbaum and wife Myra of Delray Beach, FL; his nephew David Greenblatt and wife Cynthia of Clinton; and his nephew Howard Greenblatt and his wife Cindy of Wethersfield; as well as the many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of his nieces and nephews. Allen was predeceased by his daughter Hope Kruh, his three sisters, Hannah (Rappaport) Schaeffer, Goldine Weinbaum, and Maye Greenblatt, and niece Diane Asrelsky.

Funeral services will take place at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT with Rabbi Debra Cantor officiating.
