Alan leaves behind his children Todd and Louise Kaufman and John and Charna Kaufman. His great joy was spending time with his six grandchildren, William, Maxwell, Grace, Caroline, Isabel, and Sophia. He leaves behind his sister, Rita Mager and was predeceased by his younger brother, Michael Kaufman. He also leaves his cherished brother in law and sister in law, Ken and Myra Weinbaum, many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins on both sides of his family.
Alan can be described as a kind, loving, and generous man. Most of all he was a modest and humble man that got the job done whether in his personal life or professional career. He spent the majority of his career as the founder and CEO of Keystone Equipment Leasing in West Hartford. He was proud to have his son Todd as his business partner for the past 18 years. Alan established himself as a leading equipment finance expert throughout the country and was widely admired and counted on by the industry. Alan’s employees adored him for his wonderful ways and compassion. He was known for always having a sweet during the day to hand out, but more importantly was there to generously support them in their major family life events.
Alan was adored by his family and friends. He was always there and happy to lend a hand for anybody, no matter what they needed. Alan was philanthropic down to the bone. Some of his charities that he generously supported included The Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Chabad House, American Heart Association, Beth El Temple, and Memorial Sloane Kettering.
