Alan

(Howard)

Rocklin

Obituary

Alan Howard Rocklin, 70, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 10, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Alan is survived by his cherished wife of 21 years, Liz Kay, of Tariffville, CT.; his three daughters, Lauren Rocklin (NY), Erika Ehrlich & her husband Bryan (NJ), and Emily Golinsky-Cyr & her wife Michelle (MA); and his brother Larry Rocklin & his wife Deborah (WA). He was the loving Papa Alan to grandchildren Ashley & Hunter Ehrlich. He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel & Elaine.

Alan was born July 3, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Erasmus HS in 1964 and enjoyed keeping in touch with classmates. He liked to say that achieving Eagle Scout & Order of the Arrow made him a real MacGyver later in life. Alan epitomized the meaning of the word “mensch.” Beloved by those who knew him, he will be remembered as a gentleman, a friend to all & stranger to none, a truly special man who was taken from us too soon. He had a story for every occasion, drawing on his vast experience in several industries. Alan was active in the FVJC Men’s Club and House & Site Committee. We will miss his bright, kind spirit, which he shared with compassion, consideration & selflessness.

The family extends hugs and gratitude to Alan’s caregivers at Hartford Hospital, especially Meagan, Tiffany and the Conklin 2 team for their outstanding care. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 13th,12 PM at FVJC Emek Shalom in Simsbury. Shiva visitation (no minyan service) is at Liz & Alan’s home from 4:30–7 PM Monday. For online guest book, please visit www.weinsteinmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan’s memory may be made to Camp Starfish, 636 Great Rd. Ste. 2, Stow, MA 01775 or online at campstarfish.org.

I am saddened by the passing of Alan. He was a friend and a kind hearted soul. After working with him for 20 years, he always asked about everyone and how they were before he would say how he was. I will miss him and my heart and prayers go out to Luz and his family. The world lost a great man. Rest In Peace my friend we love you

Liz,
I have such fond memories of Alan. So much so that during our times together I looked at him almost as a big brother. I can still hear him saying, "well, MY Liz said such and such", or, "MY Liz did such and such!".
Our prayers and deepest condolences are with you.
Love,
Randy & Liz Pulling
