Alexander Engel of Bloomfield died on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at home. Born in Hartford on January 24, 1920, Alexander was predeceased by his parents Max and Lena Engel and two brothers Jack and Robert. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Alexander is survived by his wife Phyllis Chesler Engel; their children and families: Larry Engel and Carolyn Moore Engel and their children Dr. Stephanie Engel, Jennifer Engel Levin and her husband Geoffrey Levin; Steven Engel and Heidi Reavis; Marc Engel and his former wife Felicia Rubin Engel and their children Aaron and Erica; and Susan Engel and her son Daniel Engel. Alexander is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jane and Jack Chack; their children Michael Chack and his wife Marie, their children Tatyana and Eleyna; David Chack and his wife Leslie; and Karen Chack; and his two nieces Jayne and Joyce Engel. Alexander was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Bentley College, an accountant, businessman and accomplished Jazz trumpeter. The family thanks their extended family, many friends and Vitas Hospice in Home Services for their kindness and support. Private graveside services were held on Monday, March 17, 2008 where Alexander was buried at the Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield. Arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
