Obituary

Al Mandell, 82, of Boca Raton, FL and Old Lyme, beloved husband of Natalie (Allen) Mandell, died peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2009. Al was born in Hartford, the son of the late Anna and Meyer Mandell. He was a graduate of Weaver High School, class of 1944. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army. Al was a member of the Connecticut Freemasons for over 55 years. Prior to his retirement, Al worked in the insurance industry and was widely regarded as a man of integrity and honesty. Al and Natalie lived in Bloomfield where they raised their family. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two sons: Barry Mandell of Jupiter, FL and William Mandell and his wife Kim of Glastonbury, along with his two grandchildren Taylor and Catherine. Al also leaves his sister, Judith of Lake Suzzy, FL. A graveside funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local hospice or to the Alzheimer?s Association, 279 New Britain Rd., Suite 5, Kensington 06037. Calling hours will be observed on Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., at the home of William and Kim Mandell, 384 Forest Lane, Glastonbury. Arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford. Mr. Al Mandell was my insurance agent when I was 19 and just moved to Connecticut from New York. I am now 53 but I never forgot him. He was so honest and so nice. I am very honored to have known him. I am sorry for your lost.
