Alice (Gold) Ostrower, 75 years of age, of Simsbury, CT and Boynton Beach, FL passed away on April 15, 2017 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the beloved wife for 50 years of Joseph Ostrower. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Goldie Gold. Alice’s entrepreneurial spirit became apparent when she created a business in the 1980s called The Handy Housewife which became Affordable Interiors. After joining a new networking group called BNI to promote her decorating business, Alice purchased the franchise and was Executive Director of BNI CT from 1990-2015. In BNI she trained thousands of members, traveled the world and made lifelong friends. In addition to her husband, Alice leaves her daughter Marla Friedman and her husband Marc of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; son Matthew Ostrower and his wife Nikki of New York, NY; her three beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Joshua and Emma.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday April 20 in the Chapel of Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 96 Wolcott Rd, East Granby, CT. Following the interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at their home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BNI Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
