Alison I Kaplan, 72, of Santa Fe, NM passed away peacefully at her home on March 15th. She leaves behind her partner Allen Goldin, son Fred Carter and his partner Kimberly D’Avirro of Avon, sister Rona Gelber and her husband Barry of Avon, nephew Jon Gelber and his wife Christina of West Hartford, and nephew Lonnie Gelber and his wife Karen of Avon. Her previously departed parents were Frederick Wachtel and Miriam Gellman. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she raised her son in Connecticut and then spent her retirement in Santa Fe, NM. A radiant spirit who traveled the world, she was a cheerful, kind and witty woman who loved to laugh. Nothing made her happier than hiking; nature was her spiritual center and the guiding force for her principles of gratitude, abundance, love and eternal life. She was a tremendous mother, friend and companion and will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be Sunday March 21 at 11:30 am at Beth Israel Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street, Avon.
It was Alison’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to The Jewish National Fund.
