Alvin E. Shoham, 88 years of age, of Bloomfield died Monday, June 9, 2014 at home with his family at his bedside. Born in Windsor, he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Sarah (Stone) Shoham. Alvin was a US Army veteran who served during World War II. He was the founder of Alvin & Co. in Windsor, which imports drafting, engineering and graphic art supplies. He was a former member of Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield.
He leaves his wife, Leila Joy (Andelman) Shoham; his children, Mark E. Shoham of Newton, MA, Scott A. Shoham and his wife Ronit of West Hartford, and Lynn Horn and her husband Keith of Woodcliff Lake, NJ; his grandchildren, Ari Shoham, Tali Shoham, Maya Shoham, Koreen Shoham, Ben Shoham, Jessica Horn, Michael Horn, and Brian Horn; and his brother, Daniel M. Shoham and his wife Denise of Bloomfield. He was predeceased by two brothers, Morton L. Shoham and Robert Shoham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Interment will follow at Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. Following the interment, through 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM, with a service each evening at 8:00 PM, the family will observe Shiva at 61 Filley Street, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
