I knew Arlene Kagan Himmelstein at least sixty years ago, as a young boy, living across the street, in a World War II housing project. As a girl in her twenties, she was the woman of the household on Pershing Street. Her mother was an invalid, I believe because of a stroke. Her dad worked hard. I don't know what he did, but I remember him having a big truck. He may have been in the scrap business. Arlene, also, took care of her your siblings, Carol and Gene. I looked up to Gene because he was a male and he was Jewish. They were a nice family.
I may have run into Arlene when I worked part time as a driver at Summerwood, after retiring from teaching.
My condolences to Arlene's.

On behalf of my Mom, Judith Brodsky ( friend and table mate at Summerwood) and our family we would like to send our deep condolences on the loss of Arline. Mrs. Himmelstein was a lovely, smart and interesting woman and my Mom was so happy to have met her and shared conversations and activities with her at Summerwood. She will be dearly missed. Love to Morgan and family.

Arline was part of the wonderful Kagan family of Hartford. I have fond memories of her father Jack and her mother Tilly and especially her sister Carol and brother Gene. She leaves behind an wonderful husband Morgan with whom I had a lot in common talking about the dairy industry.
For me she was a childhood friend and a pretty young lady. Arline has made her mark in this world and leaves behind a wonderful family of daughters,
grand children and friends. Cousin Joe and family

Our most sincere condolences. Althogu I never met Arline, Morgan was from our home town of Lebanon, CT. I believe that our last encounter was here in Lebanon, when veterans were being recognized, probably at a Memorial Day service. I think of ou, Morgan, every time I pass the old Himmelstein place, which appears to have been nicely renovated in very recent years.
