Dr. Arnold Case died on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was born in Hartford, CT on February 22, 1934 to the late Ruth (Rosen) and Isadore Case. He was educated at the Loomis School, Yale University, and the George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at DC General Hospital and residency at Rochester General Hospital. He was a Captain in the US Army Medical Corp from 1965 to 1967, and was a highly regarded, progressive obstetrician gynecologist who trained many physicians at Hartford Hospital in laparoscopic surgery and community based outpatient care for women. He also trained nurse practitioners in gynecology and was instrumental in helping them obtain autonomy as medical providers. Multiple sclerosis may have robbed him of his physical strength and intellect, but he never lost his sense of humor, his ability to sing, or his charm. He was a person who was gentle and knew how to listen, and he genuinely cared for the well-being of others. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan, and loved to watch UConn Women’s basketball. He was blessed to have extraordinary caregivers and our family is deeply grateful to the many people on staff at the Hebrew Home for their compassion and care over the years, and special thanks to his hospice caregivers.
He leaves his wife Ann (Magnuson); three daughters and a son: Elizabeth and husband Steven Dolmanisth, Amy and husband Michael Rosenfield, Sarah Case, and Daniel and wife Patti (Winchell). He also leaves his brother Richard and wife Harriet, his cousin Ronald Sharp and wife Susan, and ten grandchildren: Alexandra, Sophia, and Lucy Dolmanisth; Joshua, Hanna, Rachel and Eliana Rosenfield; Carlin and Jack Gilbert, and Noel Case.
