KERSON, Arnold Kerson, Professor Emeritus of Trinity College, died at his home in West Hartford on Monday September 8, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife Pilar Regalado Kerson and his sister, Ethel Efland. Arnold was born in New Haven, August 9, 1931, son of the late Maurice and Pauline Kerson. He received a BA with high honors from Yale University in 1953 and a PhD from Yale in 1963. He taught Spanish and Spanish American literature at Trinity College from 1969 until his retirement in 2002. Arnold was a internationally recognized Latinist, a critic and translator of Neo-Latin literature of Colonial Mexico, and an active member of the American Association for Neo-Latin Studies and the International Association for Neo-Latin Studies. Arnold is remembered by his friends and neighbors for his kindness, as well as his love for golden retrievers, birds, and Charlie Chaplin. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
