We were togetherat our 50th college reunion at Brooklyn College but lost track of one another around 2015 when I became seriously ill. Wonderful friend, great human... sorry for the loss of her

I will always remember Mrs. Burns (Barbara) as one of the kindest people I ever knew. I was a classmate and friend of Jeff's and whenever I would visit she and Mr. Burns treated me like their own son. I will also never forget the time that I brought my son Dan, who was about 6 or 7 at the time, to visit her to say hello. Well, Dan was a little mouthy at the time, and to be truthful, he was bordering on disrespectful. I felt terrible - but Mrs. Burns took it completely in stride and made me feel better about the situation - at least allowing me to maintain my composure until I could counsel him in private!! I could tell that she had a great patience and tolerance for people, and she taught that very well to Jeff and Laurie, who passed it on to their kids.
I'm thankful to have known Mrs. Burns and the lessons that she has passed down over the years to her family, friends, and students will live on.
Sincerely,
Mike Caplan

Jeff, Lauri and your families - It is with sadness that I read of Mom's passing. Your mom was truly a lovely person. We met long ago in Windsor when we played the "geography" game and had our Brooklyn birthplace in common. May your wonderful memories of your special times with her bring you comfort during this sad time in your lives. RIP BArbara.
Fondly,
Elaine
