Barry

Pattison

Obituary

We sadly mourn the passing of Barry Pattison, 77 years of age, of Boca Raton, FL and Bloomfield, CT. He passed away Monday, December 22, 2014. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bessie (Goldberg) Pattison. Barry worked for the State of CT as a social worker and was a member of the Emanuel Synagogue of West Hartford, CT. He volunteered regularly in hospitals and the court system. Barry was a true friend, both caring and understanding, and always concerned with the wellbeing of others. A generous, kind hearted man with a gentle demeanor. He listened attentively and offered advice without preconceptions or judgement. He was extremely close with his co-workers, friends, and neighbors. He was loved like family to many. He relished in his home and gardens in CT, but his wonderful friends in FL truly lit up his life! Barry enjoyed many years of travel around the world and was a regular at the Water’s Edge beach in Westbrook CT. He was never one to turn down a meal at Lenny and Joe’s or a Mojito in FL. He “felt like a young kid” enjoying live music, having parties, dining out, and having a good laugh. Barry was always about the simple, but good things in life! He will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby, CT. Memorial donations may be made to any charitable cause in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT. Barry was not only our neighbor, but a very dear friend. We will miss him deeply! We will cherish the times we spent together going to the beach, having dinner together and meeting at the end of the driveways to chat and have a laugh! Teddy will miss Barry too!

We first met Barry in St Maarten in the mid nineties. After that he become a close friend and truly a member of our extended family.
His obituary describes him perfectly. We will miss him, but he is never to be forgotten.

I am sooo sorry to hear of Barry's passing. We worked together for many years at CADAC and always remained friends. Barry was a loving friend and made many of us laugh - we enjoyed him so much and saddens me to know that we know longer will hear that special laugh of his. Rest in peace, Barry - it was a pleasure to have called you my friend.

Barry was a great friend and we volunteered together every Wednesday at the courthouse. Every Wednesday I had to call him at 7:30 to get him up so he'd be ready to go. Last year we visited him in Florida and he showed us around the area, took us to all the good restaurants and tourist attractions. Ellen and I will miss him very much, and send our sincerest condolences to his family.
