LEVINE, Benson Levine, 80, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of West Hartford, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 at his home. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Max and Rebecca (Monastersky) Levine. He leaves two daughters, Lauren Tobin and her husband Nelson of Tampa, FL, and Carrie Levine Beecher and her husband David of Marlboro, MA; three grandchildren, Charlie Maxwell Tobin of Tampa, FL, and Maddie and Haley Beecher both of Marlboro, MA; his sister, Selma Kaye and her husband David of West Hartford; his brother, Kenneth Levine and his wife Lenore of NY, NY; and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Benson was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a long time member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford, the Bloomfield Racquet Club, and the Essex Island Marina for many years. He was a graduate of Weaver High School and Washington University in St. Louis, MO. At age 17, he was the City of Hartford Chess Champion, and claimed he could play blindfold. He was a US Air Force veteran of World War II. Benson owned and operated B & L Lighting Company in Newington for over 25 years. He was a committed Bridge Player in his retirement years in Boca Raton, FL. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon.
