Bernard S. Jacobson passed away on March 12, 2013, at the age of 86, surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Miriam Stein Jacobson, and his siblings, Paul Jacobson, Gladys Kaplan, Thelma Weiner, Florence Ross, and Shirley Robinson.
Bernard served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Upon return from the war, he entered a career in men’s clothing sales, working for Stein’s Stores for many years. After his premature retirement, he went back to work for Hunt Leibert Jacobson.
He is survived by his daughter Beth Laites and her husband Alan, his son, Richard Jacobson and his wife Alexandria, his grandchildren, Michelle Ward, Josh Laites, Michael, Ben, Daniel, Jonathan and Rachel Jacobson, seven great-grandchildren, and his wife Muriel, and her daughters, Gayle Winkler and her husband Henry, and Carolyn Megram.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler and Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Interment will follow in Congregation B’nai Sholom Memorial Park, Jordan Lane Ext., Wethersfield. Shiva will be observed at the home of Richard and Alexandria Jacobson, Thursday following the interment through Sunday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G.
