Bernard W. Schwarz, 84 years of age, of Windsor, died December 18, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Isaac and Delfine (Wolf) Schwarz. Bernard retired from The Crown Supermarket in West Hartford. He was a member of Congregation B’nai Tikvoh-Sholom in Bloomfield for many years. He was a Holocaust survivor, having spent a couple years in camps of Gurs and Rivesaltes in France.
He leaves his wife of 63 years Seena (Stolnicki) Schwarz; his son Alan Schwarz and his wife Christine of Old Saybrook; his daughter Judy Patzke and her husband James of Norfolk, MA; and four grandchildren: Justin, Jared, and Colin Schwarz and Sarah Patzke. He recently welcomed the love of his life, great granddaughter Luciana Schwarz. He also leaves his niece and nephew Dorothy and Alan Neumann.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 20, 2013 in the Sanctuary of Congregation B’nai Tikvoh-Sholom 180 Still Rd., Bloomfield with Rabbi Debra Cantor officiating. Interment will follow in B’nai Tikvoh-Sholom Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to B’nai Tikvoh-Sholom.
