Beverly (Gerson) Himelstein, 82, of Bloomfield, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Max Gerson and Betty (Samskin) Gerson, she lived in Bloomfield for the past 55 years.
Bev was a graduate of Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, and she earned her Master’s degree in Library Science from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She worked in children’s services at the Brooklyn Public Library, in cataloging services at the Trinity College Library in Hartford, and in reference and instruction services at the Asnuntuck Community College Library in Enfield, from which she retired in 2009.
Bev is survived by her son Bradley Himelstein (Jennifer) of West Chester, OH, her sister Sandi Taft of Palm Harbor, FL, five grandchildren, Victoria, Anna, Andrew, Connor, and Elise Himelstein, two nephews, and many friends and former colleagues. She was predeceased by her son, Mead Himelstein.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00 am, in the Weinstein Mortuary Chapel, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford. Funeral services will be held at a later date at Curlew Hills Memory Garden, Palm Harbor, FL.
