Blanche (Gold) Koppelman, 90 years of age, of Avon, CT and formerly of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, died Sunday December 11, 2016 peacefully at her home. Born in Bridgeport CT, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Chernoff) Gold.
Blanche attended both the University of Connecticut and the University of Miami. After raising her family in West Hartford, she worked for the State of Connecticut in various roles from 1973 – 1985. Holding positions with The Public Health and Safety Committee, The Appropriations Committee, The House Majority Leader and she also worked for The Commissioner of Revenue Services.
Blanche was an avid golfer and was a long time member of the Farmington Woods Country Club, and formerly Cliffside Country Club, where she was always surrounded by many dear friends. Her love of the game matched with her philanthropic desires, resulted in her timeless contributions to the annual UConn-American Cancer Society golf tournament.
She is survived by her three children: Richard Koppelman and his wife Cynthia of Greenwich, CT; Jane Koppelman and her husband Gary Weiner of Bedminster, NJ; and Judy Panzer and her husband Alan of Westport, CT. She also loved and was very proud of her grandchildren: Elizabeth Koppelman and her husband Shan Hanigan, George and Andrew Ingber, Nathan and Sydney Panzer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in the chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM at Temple Sholom Cemetery, Memory Lane, Greenwich, CT. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Richard and Cynthia Koppelman, 84 Glenville Road, Greenwich, CT until 8:00 PM.
