Bruce Joseph Zorn, 89 years of age, of West Hartford, CT, died January 21, 2009 after a long illness. He was born in Trenton, NJ in 1920, son of John Zorn and Edna Papier Zorn, and brother of Warren S. Zorn (dec.). He was the loving husband for 62 years of Selma Levine Zorn of Brooklyn, NY and father of Francine Zorn Trachtenberg and her husband Stephen Joel Trachtenberg of Washington, DC, and Jonathan Zorn and his wife Jill B. Zorn of Columbia, CT. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Adam Trachtenberg and his wife Beth Hondl, Ben Trachtenberg and his wife Joanna L. W. Trachtenberg, Abigail Zorn and Hannah Zorn. A veteran of World War II, Bruce served in the First Army in England, France, Belgium and Germany, attaining the rank of First Sergeant. He was awarded the Bronze Star. From 1946 until his retirement in 1986, he lived in Brooklyn, NY, and was employed as office manager and treasurer for Eastern Duo-Fast, a company selling industrial stapling equipment. After moving to West Hartford, he volunteered for 20 years at the University of Hartford, working with foreign students in the English Language Institute. He is remembered by all who knew him as a loving husband and father, whose smile, integrity and disposition endeared him to all he met. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow immediately at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive visitors at the home of Selma Zorn in West Hartford on Sunday, January 25th from 6-8 PM and on Monday, January 26th from 6:30-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor?s choice.
