ZARETSKY, Carolyn (Newman) Zaretsky, 88 years of age, of West Hartford died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center. She was the widow of Harold S. Zaretsky. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Jennie (Levin) Newman. She was a member of Beth David Synagogue of West Hartford, a life member of Hadassah, and a supporter of and contributor to many philanthropic organizations. She leaves her sister, Muriel N. Slotnick and her husband Dr. Herbert Slotnick of West Hartford; sister-in-law, Lyna Zaretsky of Searingtown, NY; nieces and nephews, Lewis A. Slotnick and his wife Jamie, Betsy Slotnick Rubinstein and her husband Reed D. Rubinstein, Seth L. Joseph, Andrea S. Joseph, Cary Prague and his wife Karen, Rochelle Kramer and her husband Dr. Stephen Kramer, Mitchell Zaretsky and his wife Sherry, and Linda Taylor; and several grandnieces and grandnephews, Samuel J. Slotnick, Alyssa J. Slotnick, David J. Rubinstein, Aaron J. Rubinstein, and Joseph D. Rubinstein, as well as several of Harold?s grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth N. Joseph and her husband Marvin Joseph; her brother-in-law, Max Zaretsky; and her sister-in-law, Sylvia Prague and her husband Burton Prague.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. Interment will follow in Beth David Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her sister, Thursday following the funeral through Sunday evening.
