Cecile Ann (Lashin) Hattem, 89, of West Hartford died Friday, August 17, 2012 at John Dempsey Hospital. She was the widow of Charles Hattem. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Lillian Lashin. She leaves a daughter Lori-Lynn Skevas and her husband Constantinos of Wethersfield; two sons Jeffrey Hattem of Natick, MA, and Stuart Hattem of Weatogue; and two grandchildren Carly Deanna Skevas and Peter Charles Skevas. She was predeceased by her brother Albert Lashin.
She was a long time employee of the Department of Social Services for the State of CT, where she was employed as a clerical supervisor. During her retirement she volunteered as a reading mentor for Bloomfield Public Schools under the Hartford Jewish Coalition of Literacy. Her family would like to thank the caring staff at Arden Court; especially Bola, Desvita, Marcy, April, Lynn, and Barbara.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave, Hartford with interment in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. A memorial period will be observed Monday following the interment at the home of her daughter, 312 Church St., Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill 06067.
