David Marvin Adams, 85, of West Hartford, died peacefully on Monday,July 17, 2017 after a long illness. Born on 5/25/1932 in Hartford,CT,he was the son of the late Herman J. Adams and Sadie Raphael Adams. David grew up in Hartford, CT and graduated from Monson Academy. He subsequently graduated from Nichols College. David served in the U.S. Army Infantry where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Afterwards he served in the National Guard and was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Corporal. For many years, David worked for Fafnir Bearing as an assemblyman before becoming a restaurant manager for the Friendly Corporation.
David enjoyed being around others as well as drawing and painting. He remained active physically, walking briskly about in his apartment complex throughout the day (and even assisted in leading daily exercises), until his last weeks in hospice. David’s philosophy was “just relax and you’ll do fine:’
David’s marriages to Maxine T. Adams and to Patricia A. Adams both ended in divorce.
David is predeceased by his parents, an older sister,Carolyn Adams, and by his daughter, Robin Adams. He is survived by his brother, Robert Adams of Bloomfield, by his son, Steven Adams of Windsor,and by grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Adams.
The burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford.
David’s family wishes to thank the staff at West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation Center,as well as his hospice caregivers from Hartford Healthcare at Home, for making his last days so comfortable .
