Dr. David B. Bender, 91, of Avon and Boynton Beach, FL, died peacefully on Tuesday (May 15, 2007). Born in New Haven on December 11, 1915, to parents Bessie and Jacob Bender, with five siblings, including surviving devoted sister, Pauline Meyer of Newton, MA. David was a graduate of Michigan State University Veterinary School, then a dedicated and highly respected veterinarian for many years in Windsor. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosalind Toubman Bender and the late Elaine Mossberg Bender. He is survived by loving children, Karen Amy Bender of Forest Hills, NY, Jeffrey Robert Bender of Orange, Barbara Parks Wolf of Farmington, and the late John J. Parks of Burlington, as well as their respective spouses Howard, Judy, Jamie and Amy. Most notably, he is survived by adored and adoring grandchildren Joshua Solomon of Forest Hills, NY, Rachel Bender of Philadelphia, PA, Aaron Bender of New Haven, Jesse Wolf of Farmington, and Benjamin and Nathan Parks of Burlington. He also leaves his devoted caregiver, Gloria Jordan. His strength, commitment, unwavering honesty and love will be sorely missed. A funeral service will be held at the Weinstein Mortuary at 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, on Thursday, May 17, at 1 p.m. A memorial period will be observed by family and friends at David’s home after the service on Thursday and on Saturday evening from 7 p.m.
