David was active in the Jewish community and a member of Congregation Tikvoh Chadoshoh in Bloomfield, serving on their Board of Directors for many years. He was a member of the Holocaust Survivors of South Florida and filmed a testimony with the Shoah foundation. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, devoted cousins, and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his son Ronny, his brothers, Moshe, Nathan, Leonard, Shiya, and Samuel, and his sister Miriam. David?s first priority was always his family, shown in his lasting wish of a memorial to remember his relatives who perished at Belzec Concentration Camp. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 12th at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi David J. Small and Cantor Sanford Cohn officiating. Dear Dorothy, Michele, Mark and the entire Merin family,

We were deeply sadden to hear of the passing of your beloved husband, father and grandfather. David Merin was a man of great strength and courage who, inspite of the many horrific obstacles in his life, maintained his dignity and love for all who surrounded him. He will be greatly missed.

We all pray that his soul should rest in peace and that he is with his parents, siblings and son in heaven.

Love, Susan, Steve, Josh and Jordana Hershman
