Dorothy

Goldenthal

Obituary

Dorothy Goldenthal, 94, widow of Jack Goldenthal, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010. Dorothy resided in West Hartford and spent many winters in her Florida home. The greatest joy in her life was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Shimelman; Myron Raiser; daughter-in-law, Ina Goldenthal; grandchildren Jodi Shimelman, Jeffrey and Lynn Shimelman, Cary and Lori Goldenthal, Rob and Darlene Goldenthal, Michelle and Jamie Janowitz; and 10 beautiful great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her adoring son, Barry Goldenthal and her precious granddaughter, Erica Shimelman. She was very fond of all the Raisner extended family members. The family wants to express their appreciation to the entire staff at the Hebrew Home and especially the staff on 3 South as well as the Hebrew Health Hospice, all who were ever so supportive throughout and at this very difficult time! A graveside funeral service will be held at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery in Wethersfield on Sunday, December 26, 2010, at 11:30 AM. Shiva will be held at Joanne’s house following the funeral until 9:00 in the evening. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital Auxiliary or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford. What would my childhood have been like without Dotty and Jack? Swimming in the pool in the backyard of King Phillip Drive, playing Canasta on Mayfair Court, being at my birthday parties, graduations, and always there for me with a listening ear. I know Dotty is playing Canasta with Jack, Bill and Lynette as I type this. My warmest regards to the family.
