ROOT, Dorothy (Oguschewitz) Root, 76, of Linwood Avenue, Newington died Saturday, April 21, 2007. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna Bella (Riben) Oguschewitz. She was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford. Dorothy was a data center manager at The Travelers for 31 years before she retired. She was a member of The Travelers Girls Club, the Toast Mistress Club at The Travelers, and the Newington Chapter of TOPS. She leaves her husband, Leon E. Root; four sons, Barry Root and his wife Kathy of Plainville, Mark Root and his wife Janet of East Hampton, Kim A. Root and his partner Lisa McNellis of East Haddam, and John G. Root and his wife Connie of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Julie B. Root of Newington; and ten grandchildren, Elisa Root-Ellin and her husband Randy Ellin, Aaron, Samantha, Kyle, Audrey, Hillary, and Amy Root, and Cale, Scott and Jarrett Young. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Joseph J. Oguschewitz, and by her two sisters, Mildred Karp Lombardo and Sylvia Doiron. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Jeffrey Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor?s choice.
