Edith “Edie” Sherman, age 89, of Bloomfield CT, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many throughout her life. She passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023. Edie was a long time resident of West Hartford. She was a reading specialist in the Hartford public and Hartford Catholic schools. She enjoyed reading, participating in her book group, and attending local theater. Edie traveled in early retirement and spent her winters in Sarasota. More recently she has been a resident at Duncaster. She was known for her radiant smile and especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Edie took pleasure in their achievements and was very much looking forward to three more weddings this year. We know that she’ll be there in spirit. She was born in Brooklyn to Anna and Samuel Palchitsky and received her degrees at Brooklyn College. Edie was predeceased by her husband Bob of 47 years and is survived by her three children, her son, Alan and his wife Shelley, of Acton, MA, daughter, Robin Sherman Beden and her husband Craig of Vienna, VA, and son, Steven and his wife Cate Corcoran of Brooklyn, NY, and her six grandchildren, Daniel (and his wife Bailey and her son Lake), Ethan, Alyson, Dana, Natalie and Thomas. Memorial donations can be made to the Thanc Foundation (thancfoundation.org) or a charity of your choice. Following a graveside service, the family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, April 27, 2-3 PM at Duncaster, 40 Loeffler Rd, Bloomfield, CT.
