Dr. Edward M. Segall, 75, of Privado Way, Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Waterbury, retired obstetrician and gynecologist died Tuesday, (March 21, 2006) at Bethesda Hospital, Boynton Beach, FL. He was born in Waterbury, graduated from Cheshire Academy, Brown University, and received his Masters Degree from the University of Connecticut and Doctorate of Medicine at Howard University. He was in private practice in Waterbury for 40 years and was on the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital and Waterbury Hospital. Dr. Segall became Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Mary’s Hospital and was appointed Chief of Staff at the hospital, and appointed to the Board of Health of Waterbury. He was also a teaching professor at the University of Connecticut Hospital. Active in Beth El Synagogue, Waterbury, he also served on the Board of the Jewish Federation in Waterbury, as well as a member of Harmony Lodge AF & AM, Waterbury Country Club, the Connecticut State Medical Society, and a former president of the Waterbury Medical Society. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Indian Spring Country Club, Boynton Beach. He practiced medicine part time at Palm Beach County Health Department in Delray Beach. He leaves his wife, Vera Rabinow Segall; three children, Harry L. Posin and his wife, Lisa of Boca Raton, FL, Steven Posin and his wife, Carla of New Port Richie, FL, and Dori Kost and her husband, Dr. Jonathan Kost of Farmington; and five grandchildren, Louis, Adam and Alyssa Posin, and Landon and Arley Kost. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Segall Feller. Funeral services will be held at Star Lodge Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury on Thursday, March 23rd, at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
