Evelyn Schwartz, 91 years of age, of West Hartford, CT, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Born in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Greene and Mary (Engelson) Greene. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Larry. She leaves her daughter Riki Motes of Hartford, CT; her son David Schwartz and his wife Joanne of Niskayuna, NY; grandchildren Michael Brown and his wife Donna Kottler, Stephanie Burke, Darren Schwartz, Debra Sinclair and her husband Larry, and Sharon Macchi; and great-grandchildren Zachary, Cassie, Lauren, Sara, Alexandra, Sophia, Brandon, Zachary, and Elle. In addition she leaves her sister Judy Schneider, many nephews and nieces, and her loving friend Pam and long-time friend and neighbor Nancy. Evelyn worked for many years as an Employment Counselor with the State of Ohio Employment Bureau, and held several management positions with retail establishments in New Jersey, Ohio, and Connecticut. She was outgoing, had an excellent sense of style, and enjoyed interactions with her customers and clients, providing them with valuable guidance and recommendations. But more importantly she was a devoted wife, adoring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived for her family and delighted in cooking exceptional dishes for everyone. She will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Whitman Avenue, West Hartford. Shiva will be observed at her home, 893 Farmington Avenue, Apartment 4-I, West Hartford, Tuesday following the interment.
