I just saw Florence at Milano hair salon less than two weeks ago. Valerio was styling her hair.....she was friendly and talkative....of course she was talking about Abe. She also mentioned how good she was feeling about her new hairdo. She seemed very happy...

Florence was a people person. Every time we would get together she would begin to ask about people and then fill me in on others. Former students took a strong place in these discussions and always with a kind word. I never heard her say anything mean or derogatory about anyone; be they students or acquaintance. Details were her strength. There was nothing too small to escape her attention. Laughter was also always there. Even as Julian was so sick, I would marvel at how they could still laugh and live life to the fullest.

I am sorry to read about your Mother/Aunt's death. My mother and I used to see the Perlsteins at local stage productions all the time. She was a fine lady with a lovely smile. My condolences to the Perlstein and Gaster families.

I've always remembered Mrs. Perlstein as one of my favorite teachers. May she rest in peace, surrounded by books!

Thank you all for your heartfelt sentiments regarding my mom. Her passing was so sudden and unexpected. She was only a month or two away from visiting my new digs on the west coast. I shall miss her terribly. Should anyone wish to contact me, submit a Facebook friend request to "Abe Perlstein" along with a private message stating your having just sent a friend request. I'll reply.
