KAPLAN, Frances Shapiro Frances Shapiro Kaplan, 93, of West Hartford passed away Friday, (May 9, 2008) at the Hebrew Home and Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Sidney Abraham Kaplan, and her daughters, Judith Kaplan Kulick and Deborah Kaplan Polivy and son-in-law, Richard B. Polivy. She was the loving “Granny” of Rachel Kulick and Morgan Schwartz, David and Kelly Kulick, David Polivy and fiancé, Pam Jahnke, and Rebecca Polivy, and her great grandchildren, Emily and Molly Kulick and Milo Schwartz. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Etta Suisman and Elizabeth Kaplan. Frances was a graduate of New Britain Teachers’ College. She was a life member of Hadassah, Technion, Brandeis Women’s Group and the Hebrew Home and a former member of Beth El Temple in West Hartford. We thank the wonderful staff of the Hebrew Home & Hospital which was especially gracious at her death. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Weinstein’s Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue in Hartford with interment at Beth El Temple Cemetery in Avon. A memorial period will be observed Monday after the funeral through Tuesday evening at 24 High Hill Road in Bloomfield and continue through Wednesday evening at 274 Conestoga Way in Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital, the Frances and Sidney Kaplan Fund of the Bess and Paul Sigel Hebrew Academy in Bloomfield or the Greenberg Center at the University of Hartford.
