George Robert Cion, 67, died unexpectedly at home, Monday morning June 26, 2006. George was the devoted husband of Ruth Tulin Cion, and the adoring proud father of Shira D. Cion of Berkeley, CA, and Raquel G. Cion of Brooklyn, NY. The only child of the late Florence (Simonoff) Cion and Louis E. Cion, he attended Yeshiva of Hartford, Weaver High School, and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. He managed the Pharmacy at Walgreens Silver Lane in East Hartford for nearly 30 years. George was deeply respected and devoted to the community and received many service awards as a pharmacist. His intense interest in transportation had been with him since childhood. He was a knowledgeable expert on historic trucks, trains, planes and especially ships. George leaves his spiritual brother, Steven Cryan, of Old Saybrook. Together they gave lectures, sharing their joy and dedication to the history of American transportation. He knew true happiness at a tug muster. His passion for music and the arts were gifted to his daughters Shira and Raquel in whom his pride knew no bounds. George considered himself the kin of his wife’s large family – they were his brothers and sisters too. He treasured and cherished time spent celebrating joyous occasions with them. He leaves David Tulin and his wife Lois Young Tulin, Anne and Brad “Willie” Williamson, Libby Tulin and Leonard Gross, and Judith Tulin, along with his nieces and nephews: Barak, Jacob, Mya, Matthew and Daniel, and numerous cousins. George leaves a multitude of friends and associates who will treasure his gentleness, his honesty, and his giving hears. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford.
