Obituary

George Epstein, 85 years of age, of King Edward Rd., West Hartford died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Polinsky) Epstein. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Herman and Goldie (Sackrowitz) Epstein. George was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was vice president and general manager of Nassau Furniture for 43 years before joining Farm Tek as national account manager. He was a member of Beth David Synagogue of West Hartford, the Jewish War Veterans, and West Hartford Regents. He leaves his daughter, Harriet Goldsher and her husband Barry of Avon; his son, Larry J. Epstein of Sunapee, NH; cherished grandchildren, Marc Epstein, Daniel Epstein, Emily Goldsher, Lacey Goldsher, and Tessa Goldsher; brother, Jack Epstein and his wife Harleen, Irving Epstein and his wife Sandra both of Florida; and sister, Shirley Piasek and her husband Abe of Raleigh, NC. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Rivkin. Funeral services were held Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Beth David Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. Shiva will be observed at the home of his daughter, 149 Woodford Hills Dr., Avon, with a service Sunday evening at 5:45 p.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to Beth David Synagogue, 20 Dover Rd., West Hartford 06119 or to the Hebrew High School of New England, 1244 North Main St., West Hartford 06117. Dear Friends,

It was with great sadness that I learned of George's passing this morning. On behalf of all of his comrades in Post 45, I offer our sincerest condolences.

George was a good and loyal comrade,and his long loyalty to the Jewish War Veterans, Hartford-Laurel Post 45. His courageous service to this country as a member of The Greatest Generation will not be forgotten. He will be missed.
