Gerald (“Jerry”) L. Rosow, of Naples, FL, passed away in peace on Saturday, (January 9, 2016) with his loved ones beside him. He was born in 1925 and raised in Hartford, CT. Jerry was the son of the late David and Ruth (Hoffman) Rosow. He attended Weaver High School in Hartford, CT and went on to Yale University where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at Yale he received a commission as an Ensign in the Navy. Jerry then went into the family wholesale drug and liquor business (David A. Rosow, Inc.) that his father, David A. Rosow, had started in the early 1900’s. He worked with his two brothers, Tobias Rosow and Bruce Rosow in expanding the business both regionally and nationally. The company flourished for decades before eventually being sold to another pharmaceutical organization. Jerry was formerly married to Arline Mischel (deceased) and together they raised five children; Mark Rosow, Larry Rosow, Dean Rosow, Paul Rosow and Ann Rosow-Lucchesi. He was a “world traveler”, sportsman, and athlete who instilled those attributes in his children. Jerry had a special love for “skiing” and took his children to Europe for many skiing adventures in addition to traveling around the world with them. He loved to share his international adventures and business experiences with family and friends and was a much loved person to all who had the pleasure of getting to know him. He was indeed part of the “Greatest Generation.” Jerry was a founding member of Cliffside Country Club (n/k/a “Tower Ridge Country Club”) located in Simsbury, Ct, and a former member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford. He is survived by his five children: Mark Rosow and his wife Nancy of The Villages, FL; Larry Rosow and his wife Christine of Murrells Inlet, SC; Dean Rosow of Las Vegas, NV; Paul Rosow of Scottsdale, AZ; and Ann Rosow-Lucchesi and her husband, Bruno Luchessi of New York, NY; his six grandchildren, Adam Rosow of Wallingford, CT; Rebecca Fagan and her husband Daniel Fagan of East Hampton, CT; Joshua Rosow of Orlando, FL; Jason Rosow of China; Luke Rosow and Asia Rosow of West Hartford, CT; his step-grandson Sean Tulin and his wife Sarah of Toronto, Canada; and his great-grandchildren Jacob Fagan and Sianna Fagan both of East Hampton, CT. A private funeral service will be held at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery in Wethersfield, CT. A private period of mourning will be observed by the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eight Ave. 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or call 1-866-232-8484. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
