Gregori Viner, 89, of Farmington Ave., West Hartford, husband of the late Ida (Rabinovich) Viner, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in the Ukraine, he was the son of the late Pincus and Feiga (Balan) Viner. At an early age, his father died and he and his mother moved to build a new Jewish State in the Soviet Union. At 18, he managed a food and clothing store. He served in the Soviet Army for 8 years during World War II. He came to the United States in 1979 and worked for Acme Auto Supply until his retirement 9 years later. He leaves his sons: Peter Viner and his wife Lilia of West Hartford and Boris Viner and his wife Roshel of Avon; daughter: Eva Kotovnikov and her husband Felix of West Hartford; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Joseph Gopin officiating.
