Harold ‘Hal’ Leon Brainin of Sharon Lane, Wethersfield, died Thursday, January 5, 2012.
Born in the Bronx, NY, November 9, 1927, he was the son of Benjamin and Yetta (Braunstein) Brainin. Harold was a US Army Veteran of World War II and a graduate of Fordham University School of Pharmacy. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans and of Congregation B’nai Sholom, Newington. Harold was an accomplished musician; a warm, kind and gentle man. We take comfort in knowing the world has been a nicer place with Harold in it.
He was the loving husband for 63 years of Ruth (Schwartz) Brainin; father of three devoted daughters: Barbara Anghel of Manchester, Ann Brainin of Burbank, CA, and Janis Monat and her husband George of Sharon, MA; two cherished grandsons: Benjamin I. Monat and Yonatan A. Monat, of whom he was very proud. He also leaves two sisters-in-law: Joanne Schwartz of Wethersfield and Beatrice Brainin of NY, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William D. Brainin and brother-in-law, Owen Schwartz.
Funeral services will be held TODAY, Friday, January 6, 2012 at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Debra Cantor officiating. Interment will follow in the Congregation B’nai Sholom Memorial Park, Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed at his home, 85 Sharon Lane, Wethersfield, through Monday evening, with evening services Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish War Veterans, P. O. Box 150, Bloomfield, CT 06002, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
