Harry ?Hosh? Cohn of Cumberland Road, West Hartford, died on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late William and Bertha (Weiner) Cohn. Harry was a US Army Veteran of World War II serving as a Captain under General Patton. He graduated from Teachers College of Connecticut and received his Masters of Education from New York University. He taught for many years at Hartford Public High School. He was a member of the Squires, the Jewish War Veterans, the Amateur American Radio League, PVRA, and until his illness, a member of the Men?s Breakfast Club at the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Ethel Perkel Cohn; his son Dr. Steven Cohn and his wife Carol; his daughter Jacquelyn Cohn Helfand and her husband Neil; two granddaughters: Rebecca Cohn Zwillinger and her husband David and Gayle Helfand; and two grandsons: Bradley Cohn and Todd Helfand. He also leaves two brothers: Morris Cohn and Leonard Cohn. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital, Unit 7-1, and also the St. Francis Hospice Staff; with special thanks to Melissa Taylor and Mitzie Stewart for their care; sincere gratitude to Dr. Wayne Chen for his kindness and caring; and a special thanks to Hosh?s home caregivers: Anna Pelka and Gladys Walker. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Eric Wisnia of Congregation Beth Chaim, Princeton Junction, NJ officiating. Interment will follow in the Brahilover Benevolent Association Cemetery, Hartford. A memorial period will be observed at his home, 311 Cumberland Rd., West Hartford, Sunday following the funeral through Monday evening.
