ROHINSKY, Harry ?Archie? Rohinsky, 80, of West Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, in West Hartford, from lung cancer. Harry, also known as ?Archie,? was born in New Haven on January 14, 1927, one of five children to the late Anna (Cutler) and Benjamin Rohinsky. He attended Hillhouse High School in New Haven and thereafter, the University of Connecticut. He received a Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music in 1951 and a Master of Music from the Yale School of Music in 1963. Harry was a professional jazz musician playing saxophone and clarinet since the age of 15. He toured the country with Les and Larry Elgart, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and he also played with many Connecticut jazz bands in addition to the Connecticut Saxophone Quartet. He taught music in various school systems including North Bennington High School, Vermont, New Haven, West Hartford, and West Haven Schools. In addition to his best friend, Marie-Claire Rohinsky, Harry is survived by his children: son David H. Rohinsky of New Britain, daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Rick Clement, of Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law Nina and Burt Kaufman, sister-in-law Edith Rohinsky, God-daughter, Cecile Dubois of Sitges, Spain, and numerous loving relatives from Connecticut, Los Angeles, France and Spain. He was predeceased by his two brothers and sister, Robert Rohinsky, Irving Rohinsky, and Sarah Rocklen. Relatives and friends may gather on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. The family will share memories of Harry from 10:30-11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
