She will be missed by all- Helen made my day for the ten years I was a pharmacist at the Hebrew Home- She was the queen- I'm sorry for your loss- Peter Patten
Helen was born on February 3, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY. She attended nursing school at the Brooklyn Jewish General Hospital where she met her future husband, Aaron. Upon marriage in NY she moved to Cornwall, Ontario to start a family and support her husband’s political career. During her husband’s 18 year term as Mayor of Cornwall, she served as First Lady and was formally presented to two Queens of England as well as other dignitaries from Canada and the U.S. While a resident of Canada, Helen was actively involved in the Jewish communities in Montreal and Cornwall. She was a world traveler, an avid reader, and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an active member of the Hebrew Home community. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Wetstone of Farmington, CT and her son Dr. Joel Horovitz of NYC. Helen also leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of the Hebrew Home and Hospital for their care and support.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place at 2:30PM on Wednesday, October 22 at the Hebrew Home in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital.

Helen Horovitz is very precious to me, most of all for the way she brought joy and curiosity and caring to every conversation, and we talked almost every day while I worked at Hebrew Health Care, but also because of her link to my mother, with whom she had attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn in the mid-1930s. She was a wonderful friend to so many, and I will always miss her.

Helen was the "chair of the board." My mom Beverly Bernstein is also a resident on 3South. Helen was always smiling and such a welcoming person. She will be missed.

Helen was the First Lady of Hebrew Health Care. I will miss her direct style, genuine caring and time we spent kibbitzing in the coffee shop. I will save my special story for tomorrow's service.
