Helen B. Kaufman of Bristol, Ct passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011.She was the daughter of Sarah and Albert Bernstein and was predeceased by her husband, David, her parents, as well as, her brothers Milton, Bernard and Kenneth. She was a member of Congregation Kol Ami in Cheshire and Temple Sinai in Newington, and was a life member of Hadassah and contributed to many charitable organizations. Her kindness and caring were known to all and was both a wonderful mother and mother-in-law. Helen leaves behind her beloved son, Eric and his wife Lynn of Farmington, as well as, her special nieces and nephews, as well as, her cousins and many friends. Her family wishes to thank her devoted care givers, Grace Ho and Rachel Joseph, as well as Kim Scott, with whom she shared many happy hours. She attended Bristol schools and the Parsons School of Design in New York. Interior design, oil painting and her flower gardens were her passion. Her devotion to her family and their many happy Holiday dinners will always be remembered. She was a wonderful woman of extraordinary grace, gentle wisdom and kindness. For those who are left behind, it was a privilege to have known and loved her.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11 am at Beth El Temple Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street, Avon, with Rabbi Jeffrey Bennett officiating. Following the interment, a memorial period will be observed at her home , 16 Ridge Road, Bristol, and on Friday, May 13, from 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be may be made to either Congregation Kol Ami, 1481 Highland Ave., Cheshire 06410 or to Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Rd., Newington 06111.
