GLANTZ, Helene Scherz Glantz, 73, of West Hartford, passed away April 19, 2010. The daughter of Ruth (Loeb) Scherz and Edward Scherz, Helene, was born in Munich, Germany and with her parents immigrated to this country in 1936. She grew up in Providence, RI, graduating from Hope High School and Bryant College. Mrs. Glantz was married for 41 years to the love of her life, the late Everett Glantz. She worked for Jewish Family Service, Phillip A. Goodsell, Appraiser, and was Executive Secretary to State Treasurer Francisco L. Borges for many years. More recently she worked for the Hartford Chapter of Hadassah. Mrs. Glantz was a life member of National Council of Jewish Women, the Hebrew Home Auxiliary, Jewish Children Service Organization, Brandeis Women and Hadassah. She was an avid reader. She leaves behind her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Suzy Glantz of West Hartford, CT, beloved son and daughter-in-law Howard and Dayna Glantz of Elkins Park, PA, her cherished grandchildren Andrew, Spencer, Rafi, Remy, Rose and Rory Glantz. She also leaves her sister Carolyn Cohen and her nieces and husbands, Rhonda Cohen, Lori Beth and Jerry Sawyer, Shelly and Peter Molloy, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Simmie and Lee Glantz and Sheila and Sheldon Land and her nephews and their wives, Kenneth and Lynn Glantz, Brian and Kimberly Glantz, Jeffrey and Elaine Land, Kevin and Lori Land, Rick and Ina Land. She loved them all dearly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, with Rabbi Stephen Fuchs and Cantor Pamela Siskin officiating. Interment will follow next to her dear husband at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, East Granby. Following the interment through 8:00 PM Shiva will be held at Helene’s home, 53 Lincoln Avenue, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
