Henry Katz, 79, of Avon, CT died Saturday September 3. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Bennie and Nettie Katz. Henry leaves behind his wife, Eileen (Cohen) Katz, who was his loving and devoted companion for 57 years; two sons, Douglas M. Katz and his wife Deirdre of Boxford, MA and Ronald L. Katz and his wife Fariba of Lyme, CT; and three beautiful grandchildren, Joshua, Amir and Juliana, who helped keep him smiling even when his illness plagued him. Henry grew up in Brooklyn, NY and attended and NYU Law School before working for the State of New York, the Home Insurance Company, and finally The Hartford. Henry retired from The Hartford in 1995, knowing that life held more for him than his career. To those who knew him both personally and professionally, Henry was a sharp-minded attorney with a penchant for telling jokes and offering keen observations that others around him often missed. But he also had a passion for archeology, fly-fishing and world travel. He understood from an early age that our minds, like our bodies, need constant nourishment. Funeral service is private. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday September 11 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at their home.
