Herbert A. Leibert, 84, of Farmington, formerly of Avon, died Friday, (August 5, 2005). Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Morris E. and Sarah (Worshoufsky) Leibert. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Leibert was associated with his brother, Manuel, in boxing and wrestling promotions throughout Connecticut. He was president of Underwriting Associates, Inc. in Avon. He was a Charter Life Underwriter. He was active in several insurance and Jewish organizations. He was a Past International Director of the Lions Clubs International and a member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford. He leaves his wife, Susan (Feiner) Leibert; his son, Jeffrey W. Leibert of Farmington; his brother, Manuel M. Leibert and his wife Shirley of West Hartford; his two sisters, Lillian Hillman of Bloomfield and Rose Cayer of Kendall, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 7, at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. A memorial period will be observed at his home Sunday following the funeral.
