Howard Chaet, 81, of East Lane, Bloomfield, husband of Elaine (Sklar) Chaet, died Monday, December 18, 2006. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Philip and Pauline (Shulman) Chaet. Howard served in the US Army, Fourth Infantry Division during World War II, receiving two Purple Hearts at the Battle of the Bulge. He then graduated from Bryant College in Rhode Island. He was the owner of Hobby Stores Distributing in East Hartford. Mr. Chaet was a member of Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield. Besides his wife of 57 years, his life was celebrated by his two daughters: Linda Hecht and her husband Norman of West Hartford, and Marilyn Krutt and her husband Sam of Vernon; four grandchildren: Paula, Heidi, Shoshana, and Penina; three great grandchildren: Kayla, Ethan and Sophia; and two sisters: Eleanor Berman of West Hartford, and Marlene Seder and her husband Walter of Florida. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Gary Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in the United Synagogues of Greater Hartford Memorial Park, Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield. A Memorial Period will be observed at the home of his daughter, Linda, 144 Mohegan Dr., West Hartford following the funeral through Friday afternoon.
