Ida Goldberg Scheff, formerly Ida Goldberg Ritvo, aged 97, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at the home of her loving daughter Susan Ritvo Lewis and husband David of Monroe. Born in Drahitchen, Poland in 1911, Ida emigrated to the United States with her mother and sisters in 1922, establishing residence in Hartford.. She was married to Joseph Ritvo in 1940 and had two daughters, Gail and Susan. After the death of her beloved husband in 1965 she moved to Century Village, West Palm Beach, FL where she resided from 1974 to 2005. During that period she was remarried to Herman Scheff until his death in 1978. Since 2005 she lived with her daughter Susan and son-in-law in Monroe. She was predeceased by three sisters Emma, Selma and Fay, her daughter Gail Ritvo Rosenthal and husband Arnold Rosenthal. Ida is survived by her step-grandchild Cydney Kirschbaum, husband Kenneth and sons Hayden and Avery. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Jared Lewis and Stacie Shamie, their spouses Mindy and Greg and two precious great-granddaughters, Greta June Lewis and Vivian Gray Shamie. Their Bubby will be sadly missed, but she survives in numerous treasured stories. Graveside service will take place at 11am on Friday October 10, 2008 at The United Synagogues of Greater Hartford Cemetery, Waverly Avenue, Hartford. The family will receive guests at the home of Susan and David Lewis in Monroe on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 from 1- 6 pm.
