Ida Charlotte (Zirin) Strouch, of West Hartford and Niantic, CT, died on June 19, 2012. Born in Bellarus in December of 1911 to Max and Sarah Zirin. Ida was the beloved wife of the late Charles C. Strouch, who preceded her in death in 1989. Ida is survived by her son Stanley Strouch and his wife Susan of Lake Worth, FL and son Dr. Martin Strouch and wife Susan of Avon, as well as daughter Janice Whitney and husband Lawrence of Simsbury; she had five treasured grandchildren, Michael Strouch and his wife Laurie, Lori Kolinsky and husband Stuart, Marci Strouch, Julie McDonald and husband Douglas, and Dr. Matthew Strouch and his wife Dr. Zaneta Strouch; her nine great-grandchildren are Zachary, Rebecca, and Jacob Strouch, Joshua Kolinsky, Bradley, Georgia and Luke McDonald, and Emmett and Avery Strouch. Ida is also survived by her brother Louis Zirin and brother Joseph Zirin and his wife Eleanor; as well as her dearly loved nieces and nephews. Ida led an active life, which was centered around her family, volunteer work, various hobbies and duplicate bridge. She was Silver Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League and she taught Bridge lessons at the West Hartford Adult Education Center and the Institute of Living. She was also an avid painter.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson St. Ext., Avon.
