Iris

Meisel

Obituary

Iris Jill Meisel, born May 23, 1954, passed away on November 15, 2020 at her home in Lynbrook, New York. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents Shirley and Robert Meisel who predeceased her and is survived by her children, Danielle (Nuri) Feder of Astoria, New York and Robert Meisel (Mackenzy Scott) of New Rochelle, New York. She is also survived by her three beloved grandchildren Monroe & Jensen Feder and Beckett Meisel, who carries on her last name. Iris also leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Stephen Schwartz, their children (Adam and Robin Schwartz, and Hy and Remy Schwartz) and grandchildren all of whom were dear to her heart. Iris graduated from Midwood High School and from Brooklyn College, obtaining a degree in teaching. After working in other fields she eventually went back to teaching which has brought her much joy for the past 20+ years. Iris loved working with children in school, but nothing brought her more happiness than her children and grandchildren, who, among all who knew her, will deeply miss her. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on November 19, at Ahavath Achim Memorial Park. Due to the current global pandemic Shiva will not be observed at this time. A memorial service in Iris’ honor will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to The NYC Fund for Public Schools.

Sunday was the best and worst day of our lives, bringing Beckett home and learning of your death. I feel so terrible that you won’t meet Beckett in person but I know you saw him on video. Iris, I will miss not having you for “grandma duties,” to share all the joys with you. I know that Robbie will keep you alive with stories to Beckett, but from now on there will be a huge hole left without your presence.
