I babysat for the Landerman family for many years, starting with only Debby and Pam and later Alan and Rhonda as well. I think and speak of Irma often; she taught me how to navigate life with positivity and optimism. She loved her husband Bob and the kids so much, and I thought she was the most glamorous person I'd ever met. One afternoon we were in that beautiful light blue Caddy Bob had bought, and we were trying to merge into traffic . She turned to me and said, "I'm going to give the man in the next car a big, bright smile, and he's going to let me in." And she did. And he did. I still tell that story as an example of how she showed me a cheerful life is a life well lived.
