Obituary

MICHAELSON, Jack Michaelson, of Wren Rd., Suffield died Sunday, March 25, 2007. He was the husband of the late Frances (Davis) Michaelson. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Savitz) Michaelson. Jack served in the US Army during World War II. He was a partner in his family?s business, Louis Michaelson & Sons, in Springfield, MA, wholesale fruit and produce distributors. He was a past Commander of the CT Chapter of the Jewish War Veterans and a member of the Under Age Veterans Association. He was also a member of Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield and active in Brigham Lodge in Springfield. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Melha Shiners in Springfield, MA, a longtime member and twice past president of the Melha Drum Corps. He leaves a son, Ronald B. Michaelson of Rocky Hill, CT; a daughter, Sandra R. Michaelson of Fairfield, CT; two brothers, Elliot Michaelson and his wife Florence of West Hartford, CT, and Saul L. Michaelson and his wife Eileen of Longmeadow, MA; three grandchildren, Eric M. Warren, Kyle M. Warren, and Julie M. Warren; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a dear friend and loving companion Mary Krawiec. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Michaelson. Jack will be always be remembered for his sense of humor, love of reading and traveling, and was well versed in many subjects. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Interment will follow in Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, East Granby, CT. A memorial period will be observed at his home, 95 Wren Drive, Suffield, Tuesday following the funeral through Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450 or to the Shriners Childrens Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
